The Opportunity

A leading retail business is seeking a Junior Commercial Analyst to join their growing finance team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role provides excellent career development for an ambitious finance professional eager to build their skills in analysis, planning and business partnering within a fast-paced retail environment.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 1–2 years’ experience in finance or accounting who is looking to step into a broader, commercially focused role. You will gain hands-on exposure to forecasting, reporting and performance analysis, while learning from a collaborative team that values growth.

The Challenge

As Junior Commercial Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with forecasting and budgeting cycles across stores and departments
• Supporting the preparation of financial and operational performance reports
• Helping to produce P&L reports and undertake variance analysis
• Assisting with weekly and monthly sales reporting and dashboards
• Collaborating with operational teams to provide insights into key drivers of performance
• Supporting ad hoc analysis and projects for senior stakeholders

The Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following:

• Hold Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency, or a visa with full, ongoing working rights
• Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 1+ years’ experience in a finance or accounting role (retail experience desirable)
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting or financial reporting processes is an advantage
• Strong MS Excel skills and a willingness to learn new systems
• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and transactional finance processes
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, curious approach and eagerness to develop in a commercial finance environment
