The Opportunity
Our client is a large, well-established Australian organisation with a strong reputation for delivering excellence in their sector. With a complex operational footprint and revenues in excess of $1bn, they are currently embarking on an exciting period of change and transformation.
Reporting directly to the General Manager of Finance, this is a high-profile role that will be instrumental in ensuring the group’s tax compliance, governance, and advisory functions are executed to the highest standard, with the opportunity to work on some complex tax restructuring work. The role will commence as an initial 12 month fixed term contract, with a good likelihood of further extension.
The Challenge
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and managing the preparation of: Income tax returns, BAS, FBT, and country-by-country reporting
- Overseeing and validating compliance requirements and tax effect accounting calculations
- Managing and improving tax governance processes and risk mitigation strategies
- Reviewing the group’s tax asset register to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Providing day-to-day operational tax advisory and support across the group
- Researching and resolving technical tax issues and responding to ATO reviews/audits, Top 1000 etc
- Assisting with internal tax training and building strong stakeholder relationships across executive management, finance teams, external advisors, and auditors
The Expertise
We would like to hear from you if you have the following:
- CA/CPA (or equivalent) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Commerce
- Minimum 10 years’ Australian tax and accounting experience, ideally with a Big 4 or large professional services background
- Strong tax technical expertise with a proven track record in compliance, governance, and advisory
- Experience managing senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes in complex environments
- High attention to detail, resilience under pressure, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
